The beauty of the written word drives me to help students who struggle with essays or writing assignments. I have both a bachelor's degree in creative writing, and a master's in both writing and publishing, along with eight years of experience as a professional writer and editor in the publishing industry. I have never lost my love for the craft of writing, but I understand that not everyone develops that love as I did. As a tutor, I aim to help my students find their passion in the subject matter, which helps them craft their thesis statement and the argument around it. Without a personal investment in the subject, essay writing becomes a struggle for many students. My goal as a tutor is to show these struggling students how having a personal stake in the argument can help them formulate a strategy to complete their assignment. In addition to my professional writing experience, I have worked as a teacher and tutor for years, with most of my teaching experience involving college freshmen. I enjoy working individually with students, as well as on peer-to-peer writing exercises, to help students on their specific needs. I want all of my students to enjoy a challenge.
